RE: SQL searches

******    message to minivend-users from "Jacob Leaver" <jacob@connectcorp.net>     ******

Actually what I was referring to was the mv_coordinate=yes and mv_search_map
parameters.
I've tried using them on an SQL search and was dissappointed by the result.
I know that these parameters are not included on the list of things that
work with SQL searches, but it sure would be nice to do something similar so
that we could do more complex SQL searches.

Here is an example:

<FORM ACTION="[process-search]" METHOD=POST>
                        <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME=mv_search_page
VALUE="test">
                        <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME=mv_searchtype VALUE="sql">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_return_fields
VALUE="UID,SubCategoryUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_file
VALUE="products">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_orsearch VALUE="no">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_coordinate VALUE="yes">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_map VALUE="
                                mv_searchspec=subcategory
                                mv_searchspec=shape
                                mv_searchspec=shade
                                mv_searchspec=sheen
                                mv_searchspec=color
                                mv_searchspec=size
                                ">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="SubCategoryUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="ShapeUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="ShadeUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="SheenUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="ColorUID">
                        <INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field
VALUE="Size">

The input fields match, but the search query ends up being SELECT products
WHERE 1=1.

Do you mean search profiles? They work with SQL. You need to
set mv_search_type=sql in the profile.
