Installation benchmark
****** message to minivend-users from Giles Constant <gilesc@ftech.net> ******
Getting minivend running happily is rather time consuming :)
Starting out with a *bare* install of redhat this morning, I configured
and patched perl5 (with the recommended patch in the faq), openssl,
apache/apache-ssl (wrote httpsd.conf from scratch), pgp, bits of exim,
mysql, the 7 perl modules required for minivend, THEN configured minivend
and added my own catalog template from another machine, all from source.
The entire process takes 7 hours for anyone who finds that interesting
(or is just competitive!). I'm off to bed.
Actually, while I'm here, (there is a reason for this mail). Does anyone
know how to escape the [] characters so you can get them into the html
document or use them regular expressions? I know I've asked this before,
but I'm really quite stuck, and after searching for "escape, literal,"
etc," I found one such other question in like March 1997 or something
which didn't get answered either!
regards,
