RE: userdb

I've also noticed that the userdb.asc won't update from the web.  In my case I am exporting the userdb.asc from a hash-style database into the userdb.asc format on a nightly basis.  I don't necessarily want anyone to be able to do anything other than pay dues and purchase tickets to event and education seminars so it doesn't bother me.  I would like to be able to write to the userdb.asc file sometime in the future though.

ps.  I've set up three minivend sites now using NT for everything from straight data-access to shopping cart applications, and have noticed that NT (aside from being difficult from work with if you come from a command-line background) also carries considerable overhead due to its gui nature.  I'd like to set up my dual 400 pentium II machine with linux becuase I know it would scream.  However, is it true that I won't be able to use the same code, or were Mr. Clewey's remarks merely an editorialization of the difficulties of administering NT?

If you are going to be using a linux server at all, I would stop waisting time on the NT machine and skip right to the linux setup. Everything about NT will send you in the wrong direction for what you need to know in linux. (Just my opinion)
