Limiting number of showing products on a BROWSE page.

Hi all:
    I am coming in from a non-minivend page, but would
like to limit the number of items shown on the browse page to 25; 
I know you can do with with the [page] directive, but how can I do
this via the URL?

    I've already tried:

    http://mylovelydomainname.com/shoes.cgi/browse/ml=25

    which gives me an error... any ideas?
