Don't know about the version mismatch - probably means that
v2.x can't understand v6 keys?
The public key you added is the one from your client, not
your own, and so your catalog.cfg line should have
'customer@his.dom', not 'staff@custompress.com', as it's
his ID associated with that public key. You would see your
own ID in the keyring, but as the signer for his key. At least
this is what I've just found working with PGP 5.0, and there
is a different command syntax with v2.x, but the principle
should be much the same.
