Not really, those variables are as usable from links as from forms.

There are several ways to do what you want. Look at the docs for the
[page] and [area] tags. There is a lot of info there. Maybe try something
like:

Remember, thinking of Minivend as a programming language is a major source
of conceptual problems. And, using Minivend as a programming language is a
major source of performance problems. I had to read Mike Heins write this
many times in many ways before I finally got it.
