Discount hell!

Hi All, 
  I am trying to configure what seems like a very simple CommonAdjust 
scheme and have gotten mired on it.  This seems like it should be 
incredibly simple and basic.  But I could not get any kind of changes 
out of CommonAdjust, so I must be missing something very basic. 

I am running Minivend 3.12.  The products database is in msql.  
I want to apply a 15% discount to selected items via a flat ascii database
and CommonAdjust.  I fell back to just trying to replace the main 
product price with a new (fixed) price from the database.

In an attempt to just see if I could update the price at all using 
commonadjust I tried the following configuration:

In catalog.cfg
Database  discounts discounts.asc   TAB
CommonAdjust      discounts:price, ;products:price

discounts.asc has entries only for a small number of products.  Only the 
specific few that are on special and are to be discounted. It looks like
the following:

code    price
111     10.00
112     12.00

The products database is in msql and has the entire list of products.
Shouldnt this work?  This seems so simple, but I can get anything to work.
I even tried:

CommonAdjust        10.00

To see if I could get it to return 10.00 every time, with no luck.
There is probably something simple that I am missing.  Any ideas.
