Multiple subcatalogs, one checkout.

Hello,

I'm trying to setup a Mall, which has lot of subcatalogs, and one checkout.  
Each subcatalog has its own product file, as i set in each subcatalog 
config.  Now when i try to order different products from different 
subcatalogs, the 'basket' and 'checkout' pages only show the content of the 
current store.

How can i modify 'basket' and 'check out' to see all ordered items from 
different stores?   I'm thinking about adding more field (eg. storeid, 
product description, product price) into 'session database'-->'cart', and 
let 'basket' and 'checkout' pages pull those data directly from session 
database.  Is this a good solution?
