Workaround for multiple item attributes?

- From the documentation, I know that you cannot set an attribute for more than
one item on the same page. What I wonder is if anyone has developed a suitable
workaround for this?
Basically, the problem I'm trying to solve is this:
On the flypage, we display any related items, with corresponding "order" and
"more info" widgets. We'd like to allow the user to set quantity and color right
there on the related items. Anybody done anything like this?
Incidentally, on another topic, I ran into a small bug in MiniMate. If any of
your fields contain an apostrophy, MiniMate chokes. You must escape out any
apostrophes in your fields (with a backslash, i.e., "gardener\'s apron").
