make script

I am trying to compile the libraries and doc's of minivend 3.14-4. After
running the $minivend_dir/./configure script, I get the error

./configure: make: command not found

This is after the Makefile is created from the Makefile.PL perl script.
I don't believe this to be a permissions problem either. I downloaded the
minivend-current.tar.gz from minivend.com, today. Please advise what the
possible causes could be.

Running Redhat Linux 6.1 with Perl version 5.00503.
