Just to add my 2 cents:

I agree with the various comments that we should not introduce 
somthing that would make MiniMate unusable for certain browsers.

OTOH I do not see how Style Sheet would be a problem. The original 
RFC asked whether it would pose a problem to put cosmetic definitions 
like "<font color=..." into style sheets, this should actually allow 
for cleaner and more compatible HTML code in the documents themselves.

The place where style sheets may become a problem is in combination 
with HTML 4.0 which is not supported by Netscape prior to 5. Another 
problem may result from using absolute font sizes (pt/px) or platform 
specific fonts (Arial).

If this is avoided, style sheets actually improve cross paltform 
display in my experience.
