Couldn't you just give an absolute URL for the location of the
class file? I think I may have even seen something like BASE CLASS= or
such to identify the base URL for any class files, etc. If that doesn't
work, I think it would stand to reason that the current working path of the
Java applet would be the same as your Minivend, rather the
tlink/vlink. Put your class file in the cgi-bin.
Of course, these are all my guesses, I gave up Java for Lent.
