Hello,

This my first attempt to get some help from this group, however it is my
last resort also, as I keep going round in circles.

What I am trying to do is set up a catalog of businesses rather than
products, and the SKU can be a business number rather than product
number, however the docs seem to say that you Must have defined 3 basic
fields as sku, description and price for minivend to work (I may be
wrong, but thats what it seems to say).

Can I define for instance, sku, discription, and type, as the 3 basic
fields instead, and how would I set up and use fields that display a
number of businesses in the first instance, say 10, with a business on
each line (sku, short discription, type) with a link the the user clicks
to get a main page for any one business?
I don't need an in depth tutorial, just the basic steps if thats
possible, or is there a sample site configured like this that I can view
the config files, to work it out myself?
Obviously I don't want to intrude on someones real time working site :-)

Secondly, I need to run everything from a MySQL database, which I have
called minivend, as the docs suggest, but I have no idea how to setup
minivend to use it. I have tried playing with the .cfg file but minivend
still seems to use the standard products database rather than the sql
database.
Would it be possible for someone to outline the steps to get the
configuration to work please.

If this has been covered before perhaps someone could point me to the
post, or if MySQL is covered in much more depth in the docs point me
there instead. I have tried searching but haven't found anything close
enough to help.

I have MiniVend running without fault on the server and have changed the
html with no problems too.
I am running Red Hat Linux 6, with MySQL installed and tested, DBI and
DBD also installed and tested
(all with a static database not connected to the web) oh and Perl5005
also tested.

Thanks in advance
Roger
