[mv] Adding fields to transactions.gdbm and etc/report or "I want an Merchant/Affiliates program"

I have been wishing for a way for MV to report to affiliates their
commissions due for sales for a while now.
I know that MV collects the referral url and the source code. I
currently use this. But just in the current config with it being
included in my email report of sale.
Has anyone effectively been able to either integrate an outside program
to manage this or done it totally with MV?
Any input gets you a great big "Thanks"

If not, do you want to work on one together? I am totally open and
devoted to solving this.

I use the email report to currently do this, but I know I would have
more success with my store if I could give affiliates access in real
time to sales and referral data.

I would like to include this in another file as well. Perhaps the
transactions database.
After looking at the etc/report file I notice it seems not as straight
forward as just adding a new field.

In the etc/report file there are two areas inporting data into the
transactions db . Both have the same fields listed , although some have
different values imported. Like this

in Add main order:
shipping: [shipping-desc] - [shipping]
nitems: [nitems]
subtotal: [subtotal noformat=1]
payment_tax: [value mv_payment] Tax: [salestax]
city: [value city]
state: [value state]
zip: [value zip]
order_date: [value name=order_date set="[tag time]%d-%b-%Y[/tag]"]

in [item-list] area:
shipping: [item-code]
nitems: [item-quantity]
subtotal: [item-price noformat]
payment_tax: [item-field title]
city: [item-modifier size] [item-modifier color]
order_date: [value order_date]

Why are they different?
Can I just add a new field here anywhere? and add a new field to
transactions?
I have tried this and my efforts did not get sorted correctly. In the
config/menu area , I read transactions database and all fields are
messed up

Another ?
Do I need to create a new .pm file in order to create a new .db file
like UserDB.pm? And a new UserDB.cfg to define it?
I would like to separate my affiliates from my users.

Reports
I currently use the query/check_orders.html , but like others have
reported in the past regarding multiple items ordered, it messes up a
bit with display.
I have tried modifying the query/chek_orders.html with no success yet.

Is there a commented version that says "this part does this" and "this
part does that"
Because I would like to use this possibly to report to affiliates their
earnings.
