Re: [mv] Installing the Flycat
****** message to minivend-users from "Lee Johnson" <ljohnson@stormforge.net> ******
I'm running Linux Mandrake 6.0 w/ MV 3.14-3. I just installed the Flycat and
it works just like the simple one does for me or any of my others. I didn't
install Minivend into a sub of /root. I installed it in the minivend user's
(i.e. the system account controlling it) home directory (something like
/home/minivend). I had this same problem as you originally. I believe what
happens is that the install script tries by default to install in the home
of the user that is logged in.
You don't mention what account you are logged in as when running makecat. I
find that I have to be superuser or root. I'm unable to run makecat
successfully as the minivend user or my account.
Do you have a minivend user and group? I have multiple stores running that
are under multiple accounts. Each store catalog is owned by different users
with their own groups. The user minivend is a member of each of these
groups. I believe the docs mention this somewhere or I may have seen it
previously on this list.
After installing or running makecat as superuser, the script tries to
reconfigure or start but doesn't even when it tries doing it as the minivend
user. So become that user and start or restart as necessary.
My conditions my be somewhat different since I control the box and don't
have to rely on any third parties. But what its worth, I hope it helps.
