[mv] Login Problem with IE 4.5 Mac

Hello all -
This is a heads up to all Minivend users. I searched the list archives at
minivend.com before posting this message and could not find anything
similar.
If your end user is visiting your Minivend site using Internet Explorer 4.5
on a PowerMac, they may not be able to log in. I have confirmed this with
both our own site, and at minivend.com, using two different Macs which are
running IE 4.5 and 4.51. IE 4.01 for Mac, and IE 5 for Windows do not
exhibit the same problem. The browser bug (if it is a bug) appears to be
specific to 4.5/4.51 for the Mac.
The user is able to enter their username and password in the usual fields,
but when they click "Login", the password is erased from the field - you
can see it happen. This assumes that the login form follows the structure
of the Simple demo. Minivend thinks no password was entered, so the user
gets a "password mismatch" error.
This applies to an end user who signs on with an existing user name. I am
able to create a new account without trouble at our site. At the Minivend
site, however, I can do neither when browsing with IE 4.5x Mac; when I try
to create a new account, the password (and verify password) fields are
erased on submission, and I get the standard error message "password must
be at least 4 characters". It appears that the structure of the login form
contributes to the problem somehow.
If anyone has had an experience with this, let me know. I will post a
solution/workaround if I find one.
