[mv] Runtime error: Bad counter magic...

this error is output to my log when I try and submit the order from the order page.  I have made
some changes to it.
I get an Internal Server Error in the browser, and this is put in my error.log:
Runtime Error: Bad counter magic in [path to order.number] at [path to
minivend]/lib/vend/order.pm line 833

can someone explain to me what this means?
