[mv] RE: its about time, AND IRC channel
****** message to minivend-users from Chris Daniel <krskrem@speedfactory.net> ******
Recently I worked on a freelance project for a client who was doing the
job for Delta Air.
The client wanted to integrate Flash in the site.
Delta was allowing their employees access to the site from the work
space.
Well, long story short. Seems that Delta IT fellas do not allow Active
X, but limited JS to be used on company machines.
This has been a few months ago. I understand that the IT fellas have
good reason, not only for limiting what is installed in their systems,
but also the security risk involved.
Learned a lesson with this.
I would imagine that a lot of IT managers limit these types of
activities anyway.
The general public is another animal, in the past week or so there has
been an increase of local press about .
Cookies as a hazard
Employee access to the internet at work.
I have done internet in the adult market. I can tell you that from
experience a great deal of adult oriented traffic happens during work
hours, usually during lunch .
Boss is away , mice will play I guess.
It would be my opinion that unless this is proven to be a real threat by
the general public, that really has very limited attention span for
internet related problems, it will not pan out to be a real big deal to
them.
"No one apparently has been victimized yet. But the risks are described
as
potentially so serious and affect such a breadth of
even the most successful
Web sites that the industry's leading security group
says nothing consumers
can do will completely protect them. "
Washington Post
How many really think there will be a huge rush to change all the inner
workings of the most popular sites to combat these threats? Not
Basically it will be handled by pasting a new graphic saying "You are
safe " or something like that. Will this solve the threat? No.
But what will happen is the general surfing public will forget about it
in a week or two.
Well, just my $.02
Don't forget IRC on efnet channel #minivend for some help or
comments or just hanging out.
