RE: [mv] Question too difficult??
****** message to minivend-users from Scott Satterthwaite <ssattert@homier.com> ******
Barry and all:
Your're right. I'm guilty on all counts.
I couldn't resist the urge to stir the fire a little...has to do with
the frustration level of spending more than a week an the same silly
issue.
As for the crack about ASP, I was actually implying (not successfully)
that I could write my site using ASP (my forte: Visual Basic, Pascal,
SQL) in much less time that I had been spending trying to figure out a
few minor details in Minivend. Details, I might add, that have mostly
to do with my lack of PERL experience. For the record, PERL makes a
hell of a lot more sence to me this week than it did last week.
I have lot of faith in Linux as a Web platform. Moreso than NT (that is
coming from an NT administrator). You can't argue with the proven
success of Apache.
And, all-in-all, Mike Heins has done one heck of a job developing a very
workable e-commerce solution and I'm sure the program will continue to
evolve and improve
(THANK YOU MIKE!). You sure can't argue with Minivend's pricetag.
As for this list; I have seen a lot of questions answered and some
ignored. Overall, I think everyone is very helpfull. When my experience
allows it, I try to help out.
As for my original question that has yet to be addressed: It had to do
with the tag_data routine in Vend::Interpolate. If anyone wants a crack
at it, let me know and I'll re-post it.
Thanks for the help I've received from everyone.

I don't know what the original question was regarding MV, but this
definitely
qualifies as a
stupid statement presuming that ASP users can or will answer questions
related to MV or
visa-versa. Definitely not apples-to-apples.
I for one am truly amazed at the number of people willing to help and
answer
novice questions
today, when compared to even a year ago when I started. THANK YOU
ALL!!! When examined over the
past 18 months period, the participation has increased several orders of
magnitude, though the
patience of novice people haven't. I didn't have patience 18 months
ago, but I also didn't give
up so quickly either...
If there are any words of wisdom from a recovering-novice to a novice,
cool your jets, roll-up
your sleaves, and put some effort into resolving the problem yourself.
If your original problem went unanswered, it is probably because it
never actually posted, it
posted but has been answered ten zillion times and can be found in the
archives, or the question
was so poorly stated that people couldn't understand why you are asking
how to run ASP pages on a
Amiga with a Revel Blender front-end.
My two cents.
