[mv] Does [userdb get-billing, get-shipping, etc] function outside of a checkout page?
****** message to minivend-users from Tim Murphy <goombah@netcom.ca> ******
Hello all,
I'm observing some odd behaviour, and I'm wondering if it's simply
because the get-shipping, get-billing, etc. userdb functions are only
intended for use on a checkout page.
I created a userdb table in MySQL, and it works with no problem. The
address_book, accounts, preferences, (and so forth) special fields
(which are type MEDIUMBLOB) all get data properly entered into them
using set-shipping, set-billing, etc. . This is done as part of the
account creation process. I have created some members'
"maintenance" pages where they can add a shipping address, delete one,
recall one, the same things that they can do on the demo checkout page.
The same goes for billing and preferences.
What I don't understand is: if I do a recall of a shipping address_book
entry on one of my (non-checkout) member maintenance pages, the standard
fields in my userdb table (i.e. s_nickname, address, city, state and so
on) DO NOT have any info transferred into them from the special
address_book field, which has a correct and complete entry. I checked
this by doing the usual "select * from userdb;" in mysql. If I try this
on the checkout page (using the same code) and then check the userdb
table I can see that the entries in the special address_book field have
been transferred to the appropriate standard fields (i.e. s_nickname now
holds the name of the address book entry, address has the value from the
address "field" in address_book, and so on).
If this is the default behaviour, is there a way around this? Or am I (I
hope) doing something basically wrong?
Any Minivend wizards who have plumbed the code depths, I could use your
wisdom here..
I am SO close to finishing!!!
Thank you all,
Tim
