[mv] Options with "mod1"
****** message to minivend-users from John Carroll <jjc@groveton.com> ******
After fooling with MiniVend's (3.14-4) "simple" for a while, I finally
decided to see what "flycat" had to offer. It had a few glitches in it,
but those weren't my concern. What bothered me was this statement, which
I saw earlier in the docs, made a mental not to check it out, and as
usual, forgot. Here's a shortened quote.
"Item with a variable price option. The hidden variable "sku" contains
the keyword "mod1" instead of a price. This tells the cart to parse the
selection named "mod1" to obtain a price... Up to 16 options mod1 - mod16
can be used to price an item."
I still have only the crudest idea of how MiniVend works, but does that
mean that I can only have 16 prices for a given item? The problem arises
with something like ring sizes. There are a bunch of them, and they
affect price. Then there's band width (not to be confused with bandwidth)
and metal(s) used and stones used, and a few more variables. The result
is there will undoubtedly be far more than 16 prices for a given style of
ring. So the question is: Can MiniVend allow someone to choose from more
than sixteen possibilities/prices? If not, I've got a problem.
Thanks for any help.
