You need to turn on search caching (see the docs) for [data session
last_search] to contain a value.  That will cause the Continue Shopping
button to redisplay the last found set of items.  Otherwise, change the
value of mv_nextpage (in basket.html) to some other page if you don't want
to use the search cache.
