[mv] Learning Perl for MiniVend?

Hi all

I'm currently going through the "CGI/Perl Cookbook", by 
Patchett & Wright - good basic stuff, but there is a need to 
go further. I looked through a couple of bookshops yesterday 
and found a rather confusing mass of titles. 

O'Reilly's 'Camel' book is generally cited as a classic and 
an essential, but it only goes to perl 5.004. Considering that 
MV "pushes perl to its limit" (roughly quoting Mike H), is this 
a problem with the 'Camel' book? Or is it still a good basis, 
and are there other particular books to complement it?

I'm looking to develop serious expertise, both basic and at 
the particular edge where MiniVend lives. Any advice or 
recommendations gratefully received:)
