I had that error, and didn't know what it meant, but erasing my
mvend install directory /usr/www/mvend/ and making sure there
were no running servers got past it. I don't know if that was just
coincidence, but it seemed that the test was looking for something
and tried to actually run the server, then got confused .... A "clean"
install into an empty directory solved it for me.
