[mv] How do you make a link from one catalog to another?

Minivend 3.12
Two catalogs installed. I am wondering how to link from
one catalog to another and keep the shopping cart contents.
Both catalogs have separate and different product
databases.
Im sure this is a common thing to do, but I didnt see
any documentation on it. I am thinking that I may need a third
catalog with all products from the other two, but not sure
how this would work.
Any help would be appreciated.
