It looks like we need a big bad caveat in the docs: when setting up a 
catalog on an ISP's server, the first thing to do after running make cat is 
FTP or telnet to you cgi-bin and change the permissions of the catalog cgi 
file to 755.  Not doing this is the most common cause of 500 errors when 
running minivend in a hosted domain and trying to access the catalog via 
the www for the first time.

I've posted this to the list enough that it should be all over the archive 
by now.
