[mv] What are the 'right' permissions
****** message to minivend-users from Lester Herran-Venables <lesterhv@home.microsoft.com> ******
I'm having problems getting MV4 to work -- I can get the initial page
loaded up but get 'no route to host' error when I try and click on any
of the items in /cgi-bin/simple -- or any other catalog that I try.
If I try and install a catalog, I get "undefined catalog" screen.
I'm thinking that maybe my permissions for the various mv files are
screwed. -- Is there a listing anywhere of all of the files and the way
the permissions should be?
I installed mv4 from the rpm, and had to change permissions on the
error.log file and a couple of others, just to get the server to load.
It is currently running -- has a pid, but I can't access it.
If I type in .../cgi-bin/simple, and watch gtop then two additional
minivend processes start up, and then die as soon as the opening page is
shown. If I click on something in that page, there is no activity (no
cpu time used) by the one remaining minivend process.
I tried uninstalling the rpm and installing from the tarball, but had
similar problems. I have been installing as root, and setting the
program to run as user: minivend in group: users. Is this a good
strategy?
Thanks for your help
