Hello Paul,
A symbolic link is like a "shortcut" in Windows 9x. The reason you
*may* have to use one depends on who's SSL certificate you use and
your ISP's preference. In other words you will point to a file or
directory somewhere else on the server from your directory, or (as is
prolly the case) your admin will set up a link in the SSL part of the
server to your cgi-bin and html directories.
In your shell type 'man ln' for information on the link command. And
you might also have a look here:
