Are you using "SafeSignals No"? My understanding was that helped with
the case of an interrupt during a signal, but not for the case of the
interrupt during the socket read. That stops the main server in its
tracks and should not be affected by SafeSignals.
I might delve way back there and see if I can see what might cause the
difference.
We define "busy" here as 50,000+ parsed MV pages per day, with peak rates
of about 500 per minute. We have had MV servers that ran for 6 months
under that type of load for both Linux and Solaris. The only reason they
didn't run longer was that the machine rebooted. 8-)
