[mv] FYI: Active State 5.22 vs 5.6, Minivend 3.14.5/4.04
****** message to minivend-users from "Eran Binyamin Zeitoun" <eran_zeitoun@karmail.com> ******
This is for all Windows enviroment Users...
Hi, After little testing i would like to bring to the information of the
users group the following results:
1. Minivend 3.14.5:
My results.html uses heavy calculations / external perl calling...,
Normally when i used
ActiveState Perl 5.22, after putting time tag in the start of the page
and in the end of it,
it there is a 4 seconds diffrence between them..., which mean that
generating the page
took 4 seconds (if i am not mistaken with that simple "speed" testing)
when installing ActiveState 5.6, the diffrence moved to only 1 second...,
As far for
now the site work great with no wirdo things...
I am unhappy with on thing, and its that the 5.6 version does not support
mySql,
so i moved to Microsoft SQL 7.
2. Minivend 4.04 works fine (the demo) with Active State 5.6, and with
DBI/DB-File
as for the SQL, it supports only Microsoft SQL 7, But you will get in
the console
screen some wirdo errors from the SQL server about using convert
function each
time you will use a field type diffrent then varchar (but the sites
keeps on running
without any bug)
I hope that i will have some free time this end of the month to write an
installation
script for minivend to windows 2000 (i hope / i will try, but i cant promise
it will
on this end of this month)
Hope this information help someone...
and i didnt waisted your time,
Eran Binyamin Zeitoun.
FYI(2):
for all the guys (and girls, ofcourse) who intrested, Microsoft is
selling a test kit
which made of Windows NT 4.0 Server + SQL 7 & Windows 2000 Server + SQL 7
in 149$, this price is world wide...
