[mv] "undefined catalog" SOLUTION
****** message to minivend-users from Sorin STEFANESCU <masster@home.ro> ******
Hi!
This is the solution for all those who had problems concerning the message
error
"cgi-bin/catalog_name undefined catalog" after running "makecat" script.
Well... the message says very clearly: the database test_minivend needed for
a correct use of the on-line catalog WAS NOT CREATED.
Why? Let me give you a short tutorial (I hope that many others will follow
my example)
1. Download the latest binary distribution of MySQL from www.mysql.com
2. Install it. Examine thoroughly the tutorial included
(/usr/doc/MySQL-3.22.32/manual_toc.html
chapter 8 to be able to set some accounts for using the MySQL server.
3. Let's say you want to use as template for your catalog the "simple"
template included in Minivend 4.04.
Well, you have to check that you have the
/usr/local/minivend/simple/config/precopy_commands file
where the first line MUST have the following sintax:
{MySQL}mysqladmin -U username -Ppassword create test_minivend
If you have that, the next time you'll run makecat answer 1 when asked if
you want MySQL
and watch closely for any messages when will be actually created the
test_minivend database.
Phiuuu... That was long... My fingers hurt...
Bye.
