[mv] MV space needs for log-files, temp-files and cache

Hi,

I am just wondering if it would be acceptable to ask here 
sharing your experience as a system administrator who has set
up servers for the only purpose of offering MiniVend to small
customers as a Mini-ISP run from a home-based Mini-network of
one to three PCs, an amateur kind of ISP for your friends and
family needs trying to make a dime at the side.

The special question I have, concerns how you estimate the space
needed for all log-files, temporary files and swap, assuming you
have one PC dedicated to be your only MV server for just a couple
of catalogs of smaller size and low traffic. Let's say 256 MB RAM,
18 GB HD space and no fancy backup stuff and may be 10 to 20
catalogs the max.

I am putting all my left-over hardware together and play the
game of an in spe wannaby "MommyVendor". Before I know it, 
I am in the midst of reading 100 page long technical documents of 
trying to understand how you best partition best multiple SCSI HDs.
As we are not fluent with Linux, RAID and SCSI etc. I try to capture
the essentials of my readings into some notes for a future HOW-TO.

I don't want other women have to read through all of it, when they want
to  set up their "MommyVendors", as I think their better halves might
not like that too much. 8-) So, can you help to keep the peace among
my MommyVendor family business and give me some numbers which would
make sense so that I can safely recommend them in my HOW-TO ?
