[mv] Specifying character equivalents in search?

Hello all-

Using Minivend 3.15: does anyone have a trick or code patch which will 
instruct Minivend to treat certain characters as equivalents when doing a 
search of a GDBM file?  For instance, I would like to tell MV that e = a, 
so that if a user searches for 'red', they find 'red' and 'rad'.  In this 
instance it would be ok if this was a persistant change, because the 
particular equivalents will always need to be in effect in searches.

Any ideas or input are appreciated.
