Unfortunately just saying its slow doesn't help us all that much. There
can be any number of reasons start from the purely phsyical up to the
abtract construction of the pages. The first thing I would do is make
sure that it really is just minivend. 

Start the minivend server with 0 load and find out how much memory its
using. Make sure that you have enough memory available so you aren't
swapping everything out. Put some load on the server again and check the
memory. 

If you have plenty of memory then try changing your database format to
db or gdbm. If your SQL server is slow its going to slow everything
down. If you are feeling crazy try making the database type MEMORY.

Then start looking at the docs for issues regarding your OS, perl
version and version of minivend.
