[mv] Help with install

I am looking at Minivend for my store on line.

My ISP has installed me on a cobalt system

Cobalt Linux release 4.0 (Fargo)
Kernel 2.0.34 on a mips

I tried to download the lynix binarys and the unix  versions

I was able to gzip the unix files but when I run perl Makefile.PL I get
the following

when I run the linux binary  I get

[cucc site34]$ rpm -Uvh minivend-4_04a-2_i386.rpm
failed to open //var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm

error: cannot open //var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm


Will either of these work or do I need to get a different version.
