[mv] Static page detect in alternate directory

In the sample demo if a static html document named with the same key
as a product is found in the "pages" directory it is displayed.
Otherwise the flypage is used.

Is it possible to make minivend look for and display the 
static page in another directory (i.e. pages/static) 

I currently use this on my flypage:
[if file pages/static/[item-code].html]
[include pages/static/[item-code].html]

[else]
regular flypage code

This works but I am wondering if it is possible to do this without the [if
file...]
