Re: [mv] Process Issue

Joachim,

I didn't see a lot of child processes, I saw a lot of dead parent processes.
During one instance, there were 8 parent Minivend server processes, and only
one of them was handling requests. These processes just accumulate, doing
nothing productive as they waste my system's resources.

No! If I read the codes right, the max. numbers of the childs is 5!
How did you see a lot of childs?
There are two kinds of process.

1) via top -> the running MV server
----------snip-------
PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME WCPU CPU
COMMAND
26668 minivend 2 0 13052K 2632K select 0:01 0.00% 0.00%
perl
  347 minivend 2 0 13852K 1756K select 0:01 0.00% 0.00%
perl
----------snip-------

Two running server MV3 and MV4 (parents only) or

----------snip-------
PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME WCPU CPU
COMMAND
  347 mvend 10 0 13852K 2352K wait 0:01 0.00% 0.00% perl
26668 mvend 2 0 13052K 2632K select 0:01 0.00% 0.00% perl
27722 mvend 79 0 13852K 2888K RUN 0:00 0.00% 0.00% perl
27788 mvend 78 0 13852K 8600K RUN 0:00 0.00% 0.00% perl
27789 mvend 77 0 13852K 2448K RUN 0:00 0.00% 0.00% perl
----------snip-------

One running MV server MV3 (parent) and 4 running MV server MV4 (parent
and childs).

2) sockstat -> connected via v/tlink
----------snip-------
server:/home/mvend4[root]# sockstat | grep minivend
minivend perl 27133 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
minivend perl 27132 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
minivend perl 27131 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
minivend perl 27129 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
minivend perl 27127 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
minivend perl 27092 4 tcp 192.168.1.10.80
192.168.1.10.2394
minivend perl 27092 20 tcp *.443 *.*
minivend perl 27092 21 tcp *.80 *.*
minivend bolorg 27088 4 tcp 192.168.1.10.80
192.168.1.10.2366
minivend bolorg 27088 20 tcp *.443 *.*
minivend bolorg 27088 21 tcp *.80 *.*
minivend perl 347 1 tcp *.7786 *.*
etc....
----------snip-------
