Thanks to all - will do on that script. Seems a kludge of a solution, but
then again as I recall we did the same thing for 'named' and all the name
server timeout complaints went away..... daemons will be demonic after
all.
In case you are interested, the store in question is the online store for
the Republican National Convention now in session in Philadelphia
(www.2000conventionshop.com) and it's getting hit kinda hard now and then
- that's why we went for a volume related problem initially.
Mike H. if you're listening thanks for your kind offer some time ago to
get involved in this one, but the project got scaled back far enough (as
you can see in the lack of complexity in the store) that it didn't seem
worth bothering you particularly with the Akopia happenings happening in
the same time frame.
