[mv] Database problems due to (my use of) Storable
****** message to minivend-users from Mike Heins <mikeh@minivend.com> ******
Ugh. The latest Storable now apparently uses objects in some way which
I don't understand. (Let me make sure everyone understands I am not
blaming the author of that fine module; I may be using it wrong.)
This is probably behind the problems people have had with Berkeley DB
and Interchange, and is the root of troubles behind Interchange and the
internal types in general.
The solution is to:
1. Back up all of your .gdbm or .db files.
2. Export the appropriate tables or recreate your
ASCII source some other way.
3. Remove all .gdbm or .db files.
4. Remove _db_storable from the Interchange
root (NOT _session_storable).
5. Restart Interchange.
That should make all sorts of things work that didn't before.
I was able to get Interchange working well (at least on the things
I tried, some of which didn't work before) once I did that.
The iminent next preview release (to make the RedHat 7.0 CD
deadline) is now verified to work at least pretty well on:
GDBM
Berkeley DB
MySQL
Postgres
