You talk about German translation of American written docs or do you
judge all German written docs that way ? I have made it a sport to
buy O'Reilly's books both in English and German. 8-) My experience
is (not having had access in years to German books) and enough to
American ones, when trying to learn something new in a field with
distinct technical vocabulary that it is helpful to have some native
books at hand if you want to grasp "a concept" of something. You do
comprehend much faster in your native tongue.
For anything specific, reference style of books, it's pretty irrelevant
in which language you read it. English is the easiest, shortest and comes
to the point without much "heckmeck".

Coming to think of it, a note to Greg. It would be nice to start with the
"Not basic stuff" listed above.
