[mv] how to make different strings match
****** message to minivend-users from "Gianluca Mambelli" <gianlucam@hi-net.it> ******
Hello everybody,
I'm using Minivend 3.14 and I have to set up a search form to look for
a string (letters and numbers) in a field (codice_euro).
The string has this format: XXX.XXX.XXX (3 characters, dot, 3 characters, dot, 3 characters)
I set up this code, that works fine:
<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="[process-search]">
<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_page VALUE="browse.html">
<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_searchtype VALUE="sql">
<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_search_field VALUE="codice_euro">
<INPUT TYPE=Text NAME=mv_searchspec>
<INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT VALUE="SEARCH">
</FORM>
The problem is: if someone doesn't put the dots in the string (or puts spaces instead of dots)
no match will be found.
Searching with XXXXXXXXX or XXX XXX XXX or XXX.XXX.XXX should be the same.
Does anybody have a solution ?? (someone told about regular expressions, but I've never used them...)
Thank you very much.
Gianluca
