[ic] Interchange Admin UI spawns bad process

I have Interchange 4.6 running one catalog on FreeBSD 4.0.
The BSD options are set as suggested (MaxServers/Housekeeping).

Everything seems to run fine except for the Admin UI. 
When I load the UI in a browser window, then monitor its
resource usage in TOP from a shell, its memory usage continually
increases along with processor load.

Then I am forced to kill the process.

Has anyone experienced this problem?
