Re: [mv] Netscape suckage and the history usertag

****** message to minivend-users from Ed LaFrance <edl@newmediaems.com> ******

What a thread this has become!

Clients simply want what they want. my $.02 - I have a client who wants
the fast-order, stay on same page, but give visual confirmation
scenario. What I ended up doing was a combination of Mike H.' suggestion:
using the [tag op=header ..] with Status: 204 No Change on an anti-basket
page; and using an Javascript rollover tied to an 'onClick' for the order
button, to display a little 'in cart' image next to the ordered item. It
actually works very well, and even in conjunction with an "order status"
frame which was later added to display summary info about the current
order. I still use [if ordered [item-code]]..[/if] to display the same 'in
cart' image for ordered when subsequent searches are done.

To my client's credit, it is a surprisingly pleasing experience to be able
to quickly add items from a (results) list to an order, with instant visual
confirmation, without having to bounce back and forth between the cart and
search results! I recommend that anyone try it.
