RE: [mv] Session Type - Hammered Session Lock

Ok... Has any one ever tried to do this? I've looked through the file, and
I tried commenting out everything but the file-based session declaratoin,
but that caused problems.

The base problem is the hammered session lock. I know other people are
fighting this one too, and I've searched the docs forever. Does Mike have a
solution to this? Is there any way for me to track down why this is
happening? The error logs are non-specific.

Example:

63.10.121.2 8V7RHyRN:63.10.121.2 - [12/December/2000:15:13:10 -0800] cat
/store/cat/process Hammered session lock LOCK_8V7RHyRN:63.10.121.2 left by
PID 4857
63.30.86.246 ie2mU4oG:63.46.217.245 - [12/December/2000:15:13:10 -0800] cat
/store/cat/CD105 Hammered session lock LOCK_ie2mU4oG:63.46.217.245 left by
PID 4912

What ends up happening is a minivend process will go out of control, take
99% of the CPU and 5.5% of the memory (about 28 meg). It will do this until
my checking script can't get to the page and restarts MV.

This is a very bad time of year for this to randomly pop up. I suspect it
is happening because of increased traffic. Possibly the file/record locking
is getting jammed because of so many sessions on at once.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks,

Russ

The link your provided points to Minivend 4.0 docs, perhaps the SessionType
directive was not available in earlier versions; perhaps you could hack
Session.pm to force Minivend to use file-based sessions.
