Glimpse error #256

I am trying to add glimpse to minivend without success.  I get an error
message:

>Bad Search Specification

>The search could not be done. The problem was: 

>glimpse returned error 256: 


In catalog.cfg, I have the following line:

>glimpse   /usr/bin/glimpse -H /home/mvend/catalogs/record/products

/home/mvend/catalogs/record/products is where I have the products.asc
and index.asc.* files, as well as .glimpse_* files.  I have set
index.asc.* and .glimpse_* files with 640 mod, as well as having
minivend owning them.

When I enter the following command, glimpse returns correct results:

>glimpse -H . -y a_product_code

For trouble shooting purposes, this is what I have for search form:

The same problem occurs even if I take the "mv_search_field" out.  Can
anyone please help?
