I'm running Irix also.  I've been running minivend for a couple months, and
I notice that zombies seem to pile up quickly with minivend.  (Always a good
reason to reboot).

We have a Minivend running for a client on their server, an IRIX from
Silicon
Graphics.  We have had to reboot it eight times since the shopping cart was
first set-up this summer.  It's of course very easy to reboot....I was just
wondering why it is down so often.
