One can ask stupid questions in a public mailing list and there are not
many stupid questions. It can get annoying to people when the mailing
list becomes crowded, if one asks questions which are _clearly_ explained
in the documentation. What is _clear_ to one person, might not been clear
to the next, as so much is dependent on your level of knowledge
and expertise.

That's good. I sometimes look days for an answer. So, 30 minutes is
really not much. Sometimes I find an answer after weeks. Sometimes
never. :-)

Nothing. If you receive a  private answer, be happy, but you can
not post the answer you got privately back to the list without consent
(Einwilligung) from the person who sent you the private email.

It is the person who answers your question in private, I am asking to do
something, namely to post the answers back to the list. That's what the
list is supposedly for, IMHO.

Just, if you post, try to post in English and in German (if that is your
native language), so if your English is so limited that nobody understands
your question in English, you still have a chance to be understood by
poeple who can read German.

Just never drop the English part out of courtesy to the list whose
readership is international.

Hopefully the person who answers you privately in German, posts his answer
also to the list in English. That is what I consider a fair usage
of a free (that means in fact provided, administered and paid for by Mike
Heins) forum like this.

Apologies for this post to those who don't need to be informed about 
basic rules of courtesy and fair play.
