You could do that.  Suppose minivend lives in /var/mvend3.11, /var/mvend3.12
and the user pages live in /var/mv/<username>.  Each user with a minivend
catalog would need to be in at least a common group or minivend would
need to be in their group.  In practice you will want to be quite
clear about what "upgrade" means and who does the work.
If I had a customer that wanted to run minivend himself I'd give
him his own process and buy more ram.
