Problems to Install Minivend

Hello everybody,
I try to use Minivend for the first time, so my questions can look very
simple to you but ...
Here it is:

When I try to install Minivend on my remote server (Unix) that doesn't
work
I type:      ./configure

Every thing goes OK until I get:

PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl -I./blib/arch -I./blib/lib
-I/usr/lib/perl5/i386
-linux/5.00404 -I/usr/lib/perl5 test.pl
server.......ok 1
read PID file: No such file or directory
Killed
---------
Questions:
1. What is this PID file and what can I do with this problem ?

I noticed in the various perl programs that sometimes the path to Perl5
was
/usr/local/bin/perl
and sometimes
/usr/bin/perl
On my server it is /usr/bin/perl and I cannot put It in
/usr/local/bin/perl
Question
2. Do I have to change all the paths to perl in the various programs in
Minivend ?

Well, I already spent hours on that, so your help would be very
appreciated
