Re: webhosting
Hi Vincent-
Congrats on the switchover. I hope it works for you and I
hope you have some UNIX knowledge before attempting this. If you read
the install documents carefully it will tell you how to do
everything. There is even a shell script that will walk you through
setting it up in a virtually hosted environment.
Make sure you have telnet access and are able to run daemon's for
extended periods of time. Some ISP's will cut your processes dead
after xx minutes of CPU time or idle time. That means that minivend
wont run as its a daemon which means it won't really run at all.
Also, I would not advise using the mysql stuff unless you really
really have a need. Minivends built in databases are much faster and
easier to work with. They also can do just about everything the sql
databases do for the average user. The headaches and time you will
save on your first installation will be fantastic.
You will need them to run a startup script which is also documented.
Good luck. Read those docs! Trust me, you will need to!
